Danbury San Gennaro is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Proceeds from this event will benefit local charities, churches, food banks, and youth service organizations.
Frank Peter Molinaro, a resident of Bridgewater, CT was born on the 11th of September 1940 to Frank W. Molinaro and Lucille L. Tomaino. Frank is the oldest of three children, a sister Linda A. Molinaro, with whom he shares ownership of the Frank W. Molinaro Insurance Agency and a brother Peter A. Molinaro, who is a retired executive from Dow Chemical and lives in Oakton, Virginia. Frank graduated from Danbury High School in the class of 1958 and attended the University of Bridgeport until transferring to Danbury State Teachers College where he met his future wife, Holly Jane Finley. Frank and Holly married in 1963 and following a short stint in the army National Guard joined his father in his Insurance Agency. Frank and Holly have one child and two grandchildren.
At the age of twenty-two, Frank was inducted into the Danbury Jaycees and from that moment on, there was no stopping him due to the fact that the motto of the Jaycees, “THAT SERVICE TO HUMANITY IS THE BEST WORK OF LIFE” intrigued him. After spending more than 12 years with the Jaycees, Frank aged out and was deemed an Exhausted Rooster by that organization. At about same the time Frank was serving as Vice Chairman of the Advisory Board to the Danbury Board of Education whose job it was to investigate the 12-month school plan. His particular job was to visit the various Fraternal, Social, Civic and Service Clubs in Danbury and to provide them with information on the committee’s work and to take feedback to the committee. It was during a Lions luncheon at the Hotel Green that Frank, now being well known as a Jaycees Exhausted Rooster, was asked if he was interested in becoming a Danbury Lion. The answer of course was yes, and the rest is history for the motto of Lions International is “WE SERVE”.
In a 1994 edition of The Danbury News Times Monday Morning Portrait, Frank was featured and was called a born leader. Prior to that, in the 1969 edition of The Outstanding Young Men of America publication, Frank was listed as being one from Connecticut.
His accomplishments are varied and many, in 1964 he became one of the youngest Assistant Registrar of Voters in Danbury and still serves the community of Bridgewater as their Moderator of Election.
While a member of the Jaycees he served in every electable office and still found time to serve as chairman of many, many projects, (there are too numerous to mention).
He was elected Secretary to the Board of Directors of Nutmeg Federal Savings and Loan Association and held that position for 12 years until the bank was sold. In 2001 he was elected to the position of Corporator of the Savings Bank of Danbury, a position he still holds today. In 2016 he was given a CIVIC AWARD by the Old Timers Association for his contributions to Area Sports and the local communities.
As a member of the Danbury Lions, the same holds true, having held many club, district and multiple district offices. For his commitment and volunteer work he was named the Danbury Lion of the year for the 2022 - 2023 Lion year.
Beyond that he holds a Lions Low Vision Center Knight of The Blind designation, an Ambassador of Sight designation from the Connecticut Lions Eye Research Foundation and most cherished of all he was being named a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow by Lions Clubs International Foundation in April of 2024.
